The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) responded strongly to Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s labeling of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “terrorist.” BJP leaders criticized Kharge’s statement, calling it condemnable and a sign of electoral desperation. Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra accused the Congress of protecting extremists during its governance, highlighting a period of frequent terrorist attacks across India.
BJP’s national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari, speaking in Siliguri, alleged that Kharge’s comment was influenced by Rahul Gandhi, accusing Congress of disrespecting both the Prime Minister and the Indian populace. RP Singh, another BJP spokesperson, condemned Kharge’s statement for insulting the 140 crore Indians who voted for Modi. Odisha BJP president Manmohan Samal also expressed disappointment over Kharge’s remark, emphasizing the need for political discourse to uphold decency.
In a collective response, BJP leaders emphasized that Kharge’s comment not only disrespected the Prime Minister but also undermined the democratic choice of the people who elected a BJP government for the third consecutive term.
