The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized Congress MP Shashi Tharoor for his comments on the imposition of Vande Mataram by the Centre. Tharoor stated that making people sing all five verses of the national song was unnecessary. He supported the decision of the Congress-led Kerala government not to play the entire song.
Tharoor pointed out that there is no specific law mandating the singing of all five verses of Vande Mataram. He mentioned that it is more of a convention rather than a legal requirement.
BJP leaders expressed disappointment over Tharoor’s statements, accusing Congress of prioritizing vote bank politics over national interests. They emphasized the importance of respecting and not politicizing national symbols like Vande Mataram.
Reacting to Tharoor’s remarks, BJP leaders highlighted the historical significance of Vande Mataram and criticized Congress for allegedly diluting the essence of the national song in the past. They urged Congress to refrain from politicizing patriotic symbols.
BJP representatives further alleged that Congress has aligned itself with groups like the Muslim League, accusing the party of compromising national interests. They criticized Congress for what they perceive as a lack of patriotism and accused the party of prioritizing divisive agendas over national unity.
