On the death anniversary of legendary tribal leader and freedom fighter Birsa Munda, BJP Delhi President Harsh Malhotra paid tribute to him at Sarai Kale Khan, accompanied by tribal children and women. Malhotra praised Birsa Munda for his lifelong commitment to safeguarding the rights, culture, and heritage of tribal communities.

Describing Birsa Munda as a revered figure, Malhotra highlighted his significant role in India’s freedom struggle and his dedication to preserving tribal identity. He emphasized Birsa Munda’s famous slogan, “‘Abua Dishum, Abua Raj,” which symbolized his message of ‘Our Country, Our Rule.’

Malhotra underscored Birsa Munda’s enduring legacy among tribal communities, noting his efforts to protect water resources, land rights, and cultural traditions. He also commended Birsa Munda’s resistance against British colonial policies, particularly the oppressive Zamindari system, and his courage in challenging British rule with traditional weapons.

Stressing the contemporary relevance of Birsa Munda’s teachings, Malhotra emphasized the importance of environmental conservation in today’s context. He called for raising awareness about environmental issues, empowering tribal communities, and preserving their unique identity and traditions in the face of environmental challenges.

On the occasion of Birsa Munda’s death anniversary, Malhotra paid homage to the tribal icon on behalf of the BJP and the NDA government, recognizing his pivotal role in leading a tribal uprising against British rule in regions now part of Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal.
