The BJP dismissed Trinamool Congress’ assertions regarding the status of companies in West Bengal. Amit Malviya, BJP’s Information Technology Cell Chief, refuted Trinamool Congress’ statement that 2,54,000 companies were registered in the state, citing data from the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs. According to Malviya, the Ministry reported that only 1,54,575 companies were active in West Bengal, with 78,615 companies inactive and 1,016 under liquidation.

Malviya highlighted that out of the initially registered 2,54,000 companies, only 61% are currently operational in West Bengal. He criticized TMC, stating that only 1,782 out of the 1,54,575 ‘active’ companies reported profits exceeding Rs 10 crore in the 2024-25 financial year. Malviya accused Mamata Banerjee of fostering a weak industrial environment in Bengal.

The BJP has long raised concerns about capital flight from West Bengal. Former Rajya Sabha member Samik Bhattacharya, now state BJP president, revealed data from the Union Ministry of Corporate Affairs indicating that 2,227 companies had relocated from West Bengal to other states between 2019 and 2024. The BJP attributed these relocations to factors like operational flexibility, management ease, and better infrastructure in other states.
