The BJP government, led by Suvendu Adhikari, is set to release department-specific white papers focusing on financial irregularities during the 15-year tenure of the Trinamool Congress, under Mamata Banerjee from 2011 to 2026. These white papers will delve into six key areas. The state cabinet has approved the formation of a five-member ministerial committee, with Swapan Dasgupta as the chairman, to oversee the preparation and publication of these white papers.
The white papers will scrutinize financial irregularities that occurred across various departments with direct approval from the Chief Minister’s Office. Additionally, they will shed light on how a private agency influenced department-wise policy decisions and handled state government files. Recruitment irregularities in statutory bodies like the West Bengal Public Service Commission will also be a focal point.
Expenditures related to the Bengal Global Business Summit, corruption within the healthcare system, and interference in criminal investigations will be addressed in the white papers. The ministerial committee will not only highlight these irregularities but also provide suggestions on addressing them and taking legal action. Swapan Dasgupta announced the publication of these white papers during the recent budget session in the Assembly.
The white papers aim to explain the accumulated debt incurred during the Trinamool rule and the delays in implementing crucial development projects. The Finance Minister emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in addressing corruption loopholes. Moving forward, reports from the Comptroller and Auditor General of India will be presented in the Assembly to enhance transparency and accountability.
