BJP Karnataka President, B.Y. Vijayendra, met with Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy in Bengaluru to discuss political developments in the state. They talked about the BJP-JD(S) alliance, upcoming bye-elections, and the formation of a coordination committee. Vijayendra mentioned that they deliberated on strategies against the current government, which they criticized as “anti-farmer, anti-people, and corrupt.”
The leaders also focused on the upcoming bye-elections in Hiriyur and Dharwad Assembly constituencies, along with elections to four Teachers’ and Graduates’ Constituencies. Vijayendra emphasized the need for closer coordination between BJP and JD(S) to challenge the ruling government. He announced plans to establish a coordination committee for this purpose.
Vijayendra revealed that discussions were held on the composition of the coordination committee, with suggestions for a compact structure. He clarified that the decision to form the committee was not influenced by recent events like cross-voting. The aim is to strengthen the alliance and work towards defeating the current government, aligning with the BJP national leadership’s directives.
Regarding seat-sharing for the bye-elections, Vijayendra mentioned that JD(S) expressed interest in contesting the Hiriyur Assembly seat. He assured that the final decision on seat-sharing and candidate selection for the bypolls would be made by the alliance’s national leadership.
