BJP leader and Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma criticized former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, alleging that Kejriwal, who once portrayed himself as a symbol of simplicity, now resides in luxury at his new official residence in 95 Lodhi Estate. Verma raised concerns about the funding behind Kejriwal’s new property, referring to it as ‘Sheesh Mahal 2’ following a previous controversial construction.
Verma highlighted Kejriwal’s shift from advocating simplicity to living lavishly, questioning the authenticity of Kejriwal’s past promises and invoking historical figures like Mahatma Gandhi and Bhagat Singh. He further labeled Kejriwal as “Delhi’s Rahman Dacoit,” comparing him to a character from the movie ‘Dhurandhar,’ and criticized the opulence of Kejriwal’s new residence, suggesting it resembles a luxury hotel suite.
The BJP leader continued to challenge Kejriwal’s claims of modesty, pointing out the contradiction between Kejriwal’s earlier statements and his current lifestyle choices. Verma demanded transparency regarding the funding sources for Kejriwal’s new residence, insinuating that the construction of ‘Sheesh Mahal 2’ contradicts Kejriwal’s previous declarations of simplicity.
Verma concluded by suggesting that Kejriwal’s party should be renamed ‘Aalishan Aadmi Party’ instead of ‘Aam Aadmi Party, accusing Kejriwal of being disconnected from the struggles of the common people due to his extravagant lifestyle. The BJP leader indicated that the controversy surrounding Kejriwal’s residence is likely to escalate political tensions in the national capital.
