After the Delhi–Himachal Pradesh Police standoff over a shirtless protest at the AI Summit, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh criticized the Congress, alleging a scheme to protect the accused. Chugh claimed that the protest during the International AI Summit was not just political opposition but a deliberate attempt to damage India’s international reputation. He further alleged that the top Congress leadership orchestrated this as part of an international agenda, risking the country’s image.
The 24-hour standoff between Delhi and Himachal Pradesh police ended with the latter allowing three Indian Youth Congress activists, arrested for the protest, to be taken to Delhi. Himachal Police had earlier detained Delhi Police vehicles and the activists, leading to a kidnapping case. The accused, along with Delhi Police personnel, were granted transit remand after a medical examination.
Delhi Police clarified that the arrested activists were not from Himachal Pradesh. Himachal Pradesh Police, on the other hand, responded to reports of individuals forcefully taking away three people from a resort. The individuals, revealed to be police personnel from Delhi and Haryana, were intercepted at various locations for legal compliance and to safeguard everyone’s rights.
