Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader R. Ashoka has urged for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry into alleged irregularities in a solid waste management tender in Karnataka. Ashoka accused the state government of being embroiled in a significant corruption scandal and criticized Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar for not facilitating a thorough investigation. Referring to the Chief Minister’s willingness to face any inquiry, Ashoka challenged him to transfer the case to the CBI if he is confident of his government’s innocence.
Ashoka alleged a corruption racket under the guise of a solid waste disposal tender and emphasized the necessity of an independent investigation to reveal the truth. He expressed his intention to personally file a complaint regarding the irregularities and called for a comprehensive probe by the government. The BJP leader also demanded the identification and prosecution of those responsible for the alleged irregularities, highlighting the need for transparency and accountability.
R. Ashoka criticized Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and the Congress government for alleged corruption, lack of transparency, and shielding individuals involved in the Bengaluru garbage tender controversy. Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Steel H.D. Kumaraswamy raised concerns about the approximately Rs 39,000-crore solid waste management tender, labeling it a major irregularity and one of Karnataka’s largest scams. In response to allegations of kickbacks in Bengaluru’s waste management tender, Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar accused BJP leader R. Ashoka of being associated with the “garbage mafia” and engaging in jealousy-driven politics.
