BJP leader Basavraj Bommai criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, suggesting that Gandhi speaks more freely during his foreign visits as his words hold less weight in India. Bommai made these remarks in Bidar, Karnataka, highlighting Gandhi’s tendency to criticize India’s institutions and democracy while abroad.
Bommai also accused Rahul Gandhi of seeking support from foreign organizations to shield himself from corruption allegations. He further alleged that the Congress party exploits Mahatma Gandhi’s name for political advantage, claiming that they have metaphorically “killed” the iconic leader multiple times to maintain relevance.
In response to queries about the removal of Mahatma Gandhi’s name from the MGNREGS, Bommai claimed that the Congress party has strayed from Gandhian principles. He accused the Congress of committing a “grave sin” by attempting to separate Mahatma Gandhi from the revered figure of Lord Ram, emphasizing the intrinsic connection between the two historical figures.
AICC General Secretary Sachin Pilot criticized the Union government for altering the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), stating that these changes jeopardize the economic security of rural India. The new Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) aims to extend the employment guarantee to 125 days annually for rural households.
