Amid the Sringeri recount controversy, BJP leader D.N. Jeevaraj took the oath as a Member of the Legislative Assembly at the Vidhana Soudha. The oath was administered by Speaker U.T. Khader in the presence of senior BJP leaders, including Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka.

Khader clarified that the oath was administered following the election certificate issuance and in accordance with constitutional provisions. He mentioned that the position’s validity is contingent upon the ongoing legal proceedings. If a stay is issued by the court, Jeevaraj’s position as an MLA would be affected.

Addressing the media, Khader emphasized that there was no delay on his part in administering the oath. He explained that the Election Commission’s order was received two days prior, and the BJP’s application was submitted the day before the oath-taking ceremony.

R. Ashoka announced that Jeevaraj would immediately assume his duties as an MLA. He also alleged irregularities in the 2023 Assembly election process, claiming that officials favored Congress leaders during the elections.
