Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari, who won in Nandigram and Bhabanipur Assembly constituencies, stated that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government led by Mamata Banerjee was worse than the previous CPM government. Adhikari, who defeated Banerjee in Bhabanipur, visited Nandigram to thank voters for their support.
Adhikari expressed his gratitude to the people for electing him twice as an MP and thrice as an MLA. Following the West Bengal Assembly polls, BJP secured 207 seats while TMC was reduced to 80 seats. Adhikari emphasized the need to fulfill people’s expectations with development and progress.
The BJP leader highlighted the importance of the recent political change, stating that the new government will focus on development, progress, and growth. Adhikari assured that those involved in criminal activities will face legal consequences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and emphasized the rule of law.
Adhikari urged for peace and legal actions against the alleged atrocities faced by BJP workers, indicating that the new BJP government will address these issues within the legal framework. He mentioned plans for a thanksgiving ceremony post the formation of the BJP government, expressing hope for positive changes in Bengal soon.
Adhikari outlined the BJP’s priorities post-election, aiming to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitments and the election manifesto presented by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He emphasized securing the border with Bangladesh, ensuring women’s safety, and promoting freedom for women to move around without fear.
