The initiative aimed to support the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ program, launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2024, promoting a greener planet.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal planted a sapling in Tirumala hills after visiting the Tirupati Balaji temple, encouraging people to plant and nurture trees for a cleaner and more sustainable India. Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav inaugurated 18 Namo Oxygen Parks in Delhi, emphasizing the importance of environmental consciousness.
BJP MP Virender Sachdeva planted saplings in Delhi’s Mayur Vihar and advocated for increased tree planting, reduced paper usage, and the avoidance of single-use plastic. In Gujarat, State Minister Rivaba Jadeja participated in a plantation drive, urging citizens to support environmental conservation efforts.
In Maharashtra, State Minister Girish Mahajan and Nashik Mayor Himagouri Adke led a cleanliness drive along the Nandini River, drawing a large crowd of activists and volunteers. Minority Affairs Minister Danish Azad Ansari of Uttar Pradesh called for active participation in the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign on World Environment Day.
A tree plantation project titled Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam was initiated at the Ramakrishna Mission in Asansol, West Bengal. Bengal Minister Agnimitra Paul planted a sapling at the mission, aligning with PM Modi’s vision for a cleaner and greener planet. In Bihar, the BJP state unit mobilized a campaign for environmental conservation, emphasizing the importance of tree planting.
