The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders gathered at the ‘Janjati Sanskritik Samagam’ in Delhi to celebrate the unity of tribal communities in India. The event, graced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, marks the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon Bhagwan Birsa Munda. BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj clarified that the event is a tribute to Munda and not an election promise.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari highlighted the participation of tribal brothers and sisters from various states like Arunachal Pradesh, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and West Bengal, emphasizing their integral role in the nation. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stressed the importance of preserving tribal customs and culture against external pressures.
Former Jharkhand CM Arjun Munda underscored the unique identity of tribal communities in India and their rich cultural heritage. ‘Janjati Suraksha Manch’ member Manohar Santhal emphasized the need for development and addressing issues faced by tribal communities nationwide.
Participants from diverse regions, including Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Sikkim, showcased traditional tribal attire at the event. The significance of traditional attire, food habits, and lifestyle in defining tribal identities was highlighted, promoting unity and cultural pride among tribal groups.
