The West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is planning a mega rally at Brigade Parade Ground in central Kolkata, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi set to address it later this month. Originally scheduled for March 15, the event might now be moved up to March 14, as per a state committee member of the BJP in West Bengal.
The Prime Minister is expected to arrive in Kolkata on the night of March 13 and address the rally on the afternoon of March 14 before returning to New Delhi the same day. This rally will mark the culmination of the ongoing Parivartan Yatra organized by the BJP’s West Bengal unit, which commenced on March 2.
Key BJP leaders like Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and BJP’s national president Nitin Nabin have already participated in various phases of the Parivartan Yatra. The state leadership is working on finalizing the list of party candidates for the 294 Assembly constituencies in West Bengal to be sent to the central leadership for a final decision.
The state unit plans to submit two separate lists for each constituency, one with three preferred candidate names and the other with three names not preferred as candidates. Emphasizing grassroots leaders over celebrities, especially those from the entertainment industry, is a focus for the state leadership this time.
