Kolkata BJP MLA Ritesh Tiwari has lodged a complaint at Tala Police Station in north Kolkata against the Tala Pratyay Durgotsav Committee. The complaint accuses the committee of illegally occupying land at the Tala Gymkhana ground and damaging Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) property.

The complaint alleges that the Tala Pratyay Durgotsav Committee has unlawfully taken over approximately two bighas of land at the Tala Gymkhana ground since 2018. It also claims that the committee demolished about 200 feet of the boundary wall, an iron gate, and grill belonging to KMC. Additionally, a clubhouse has reportedly been built on a small park.

According to the complaint, BJP MLA Tiwari contends that these actions constitute organized crime or the work of an organized crime syndicate under Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He further accuses the committee of obtaining electricity fraudulently from the Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) in the name of the Tala Park Association.

Allegations include claims that the address used for the electricity connection, supposedly belonging to the Tala Park Association, is actually an empty plot in Ward No. 5 of KMC, previously allocated to a voluntary organization named Calcutta Rescue. It is also asserted that various structures and materials obstruct access to a significant portion of the ground throughout the year, depriving children and local residents of play space.
