Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Bimal Bora expressed strong support for the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill in the Assam Assembly, emphasizing its significance in promoting social justice and equality. Bora highlighted that the UCC Bill represents India’s cultural unity and constitutional values, transcending legal boundaries.

He underscored the importance of the Uniform Civil Code in upholding equal rights and justice for all citizens, regardless of religious or communal affiliations. Bora noted that the concept of a Uniform Civil Code aligns with the constitutional principles of ensuring a common civil framework for all citizens, as envisioned by the framers of the Constitution.

The BJP legislator commended Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for fulfilling the party’s commitment to “One Nation, One Law” by introducing the UCC Bill in the Assembly. Bora emphasized that the legislation aims to safeguard the dignity and rights of women from all communities, addressing existing legal provisions that perpetuate gender inequality. He also stressed the importance of marriage and family traditions in Assam’s social fabric, asserting that the proposed bill seeks to enhance social responsibility and stability within families.
