Himachal Pradesh BJP MP Anurag Thakur launched a scathing attack on the Congress government in the state, accusing it of failing to fulfill its promises made during the 2022 elections. Thakur criticized the government for burdening the people with increased taxes and inflation.

Thakur highlighted the government’s decision to raise VAT on diesel to Rs 10.4 per litre soon after coming to power, leading to significant revenue collection from the people. He also alleged that the government plans to impose an additional cess on petrol and diesel, which would further impact the common man.

The BJP leader expressed strong opposition to the proposed cess, emphasizing that it would adversely affect various sectors of the economy, not just traders. Thakur raised concerns about the state’s financial situation, pointing out that Himachal Pradesh’s debt has exceeded Rs 1 lakh crore under the current Congress-led government.

Thakur demanded that the state government prioritize fulfilling its electoral promises instead of introducing new taxes. He assured the people of Himachal Pradesh that the BJP would continue to oppose any decisions that are detrimental to the public, both on the streets and in the State Assembly.
