BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal praised the BJP’s significant win in West Bengal, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rapport with the public and local customs. Khandelwal highlighted how PM Modi’s backing of indigenous products, like jhalmuri, symbolized a bond with the common people. This gesture, where PM Modi bought jhalmuri from a local shop during campaigning, resonated with voters, emphasizing the party’s deep-rooted link in the state.
Khandelwal emphasized the broader political impact of the BJP’s triumph, noting that victories in various states would bolster crucial policy decisions. He mentioned that initiatives such as “one nation – one election,” tackling illegal immigration, and implementing a Uniform Civil Code would now progress swiftly. The BJP’s remarkable performance in West Bengal marks a significant transformation in the state’s political landscape, as per Khandelwal.
The BJP secured 206 seats out of 293 declared constituencies in the Assembly elections, comfortably surpassing the two-thirds majority threshold. The Trinamool Congress trailed with 81 seats, while the Congress and CPI(M) won two and one seat, respectively. Notably, the BJP garnered 46% of the vote share, outperforming the Trinamool Congress at 41%. The Trinamool Congress faced defeat in several districts and tribal-dominated areas, underscoring the scale of the BJP’s victory in West Bengal.
