Abhijit Gangopadhyay, a BJP Member of Parliament and former Calcutta High Court judge, expressed dissatisfaction with CBI investigating officer Seema Pahuja’s conduct in the investigation of a female doctor’s rape and murder at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Despite acknowledging the CBI’s efforts, Abhijit raised concerns about Seema’s alleged mishandling of the case, accusing her of improper investigation and tampering with evidence. He demanded that Seema be investigated as a suspect due to her actions.

Abhijit made a surprise visit to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, donning a doctor’s apron, and confronted the sealed CBI room. He criticized Seema for overlooking potential crucial evidence in the room, implying negligence on the part of the CBI. The female doctor’s body was discovered in the same room in August 2024, prompting the transfer of the case from Kolkata Police to the CBI following a court order.

Various concerns have been raised regarding the CBI’s handling of the case, with even the victim’s parents expressing dissatisfaction with the investigation. Abhijit echoed these sentiments, questioning Seema’s role and alleging that she neglected key aspects of the investigation. He also highlighted an incident involving a nurse’s video, claiming that Seema failed to address it adequately, as the video was not included in the investigation report or presented during the trial.
