The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has achieved significant wins in the Assam Assembly elections, with several candidates securing victories by substantial margins, showcasing a strong mandate across various regions. Assam Minister Kaushik Rai from Lakhipur emerged as the top winner with an impressive lead of 99,401 votes. This victory signifies the BJP’s growing support in the Bengali-majority area, focusing on development and connectivity issues.
In Jagiroad, Minister Pijush Hazarika secured a win with a margin of 93,548 votes, highlighting the BJP’s influence in central Assam, supported by infrastructure development and welfare initiatives. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma retained his Jalukbari seat with a lead of 89,434 votes, emphasizing his personal popularity and the party’s stronghold in urban areas like Guwahati.
In Ramakrishna Nagar, Bijoy Malakar won by 83,765 votes, showcasing sustained grassroots support for the BJP in rural areas, particularly concerning welfare schemes and local progress. Moreover, in the tribal-dominated Jonai constituency, Bhuban Pegu emerged victorious with a margin of 80,124 votes, reflecting the BJP’s expanding reach among tribal communities through targeted welfare programs and infrastructure enhancements.
These substantial victories in diverse Assembly constituencies underscore the BJP’s widespread appeal in Assam, encompassing urban, rural, and tribal regions, solidifying its position as the dominant political force in the state. The election results revealed a clear mandate in favor of the BJP, securing 82 out of the 126 seats in the Assam Assembly. The Congress trailed with 19 seats, while regional parties like the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) and the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) each secured 10 seats.
