As the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) readies to establish its inaugural government in West Bengal on Saturday, party National President Nitin Nabin hailed the occasion as a “new dawn of trust,” foreseeing a fresh era of progress and governance for the state. Nabin emphasized that the BJP’s governance in Bengal signifies renewed optimism for development, security, and improved administration under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Suvendu Adhikari, a senior BJP figure, is slated to take the oath as the first BJP Chief Minister of West Bengal at a grand event set to take place at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata. Adhikari emerged victorious in both the Assembly constituencies he contested, namely Nandigram and Bhabanipur, triumphing over Trinamool Congress leader and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in the latter.
The swearing-in ceremony is anticipated to witness the participation of prominent BJP figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President Nitin Nabin, several Union ministers, and chief ministers from NDA-governed states. The BJP’s historic ascension to power in West Bengal follows the announcement of Assembly election results on May 4, marking a significant political transition in the state.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah formally declared Suvendu Adhikari as the BJP Legislature Party leader and the forthcoming Chief Minister of West Bengal during a meeting with newly elected BJP legislators. This decision was made subsequent to the party’s resounding performance in the Assembly polls, ending the prolonged rule of the Trinamool Congress in the state.
