BJP State President Ravindra Chavan stated that the party will take action against Narayan Chaudhary and supporting corporators for defying the party whip in the Bhiwandi-Nizampur Municipal Corporation mayor election. Initially, Chaudhary was nominated by the local committee, but the state-level leadership later chose Sneha Patil to prevent conflicts.
Chavan mentioned that despite efforts to prevent rebellion, Narayan Chaudhary, with support from some BJP corporators, managed to secure the Mayor’s post in the Bhiwandi-Nizampur City Municipal Corporation. The election saw a dramatic turn of events with Chaudhary winning decisively with 48 votes, backed by cross-party alliances and a split within the BJP ranks.
In a surprising move, six BJP corporators sided with Chaudhary, aligning with the Congress and NCP factions to ensure his victory. The election process involved multiple candidates filing nominations, with some withdrawing before the final showdown, leading to Chaudhary’s unexpected win.
