The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal is gearing up for the upcoming Assembly elections by launching ‘Parivartan Rath Yatras’ across the state. West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya highlighted the erosion of democratic rights and institutionalized corruption during the Trinamool Congress’ 15-year rule in the state. The party plans to organize nine yatras, starting on March 1 from various locations like Cooch Behar South and Krishnanagar South.
The yatras will cover over 5,000 km and visit multiple Assembly constituencies from March 5 to 10. The BJP’s campaign includes nearly 60 major and over 300 minor public meetings, along with the display of raths and tableaus in each constituency. The program is set to culminate with a public gathering featuring Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata by the end of March. State BJP President Bhattacharya has encouraged broad participation in these events.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled for a brief visit to West Bengal, starting with his arrival at Kolkata airport on Wednesday. He will then proceed to Mayapur in Nadia district to partake in various activities at the ISKCON temple, including the 152nd birth anniversary celebrations of Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur. Shah’s visit will focus on religious and cultural engagements without any political events.
