BJP workers staged a protest in Bankura’s Onda area following an alleged attack on a party leader’s house. They accused Trinamool miscreants of setting the house on fire, a claim denied by the ruling party. The incident, involving petrol being poured on the house, sparked tensions between the two political parties.
The BJP claimed that Trinamool Congress workers attempted to burn the leader and his family alive during the attack. Villagers intervened, rescuing the family from the burning house. However, the Trinamool Congress refuted these accusations, attributing the incident to internal discord within the BJP.
Tapas Barik, a BJP social media cell leader, recounted returning home to find his house ablaze after petrol was set on the roof. The miscreants also vandalized his shop, leading to a swift response from villagers who rescued the family. BJP MLA Amarnath Shakha visited the scene, as party workers demanded the swift arrest of the perpetrators.
Allegations flew between the two parties, with the BJP accusing Trinamool Congress of orchestrating the attack. In contrast, the Trinamool Congress distanced itself, suggesting the incident stemmed from internal BJP conflicts. Police authorities assured a thorough investigation into the matter to determine the facts.
