BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticized the Congress party for the delay in appointing the next Chief Minister of Kerala. Poonawalla expressed that despite a strong electoral victory, the Congress seemed confused and unable to decide on a Chief Minister for Kerala.
Poonawalla highlighted the delay by stating that it had been nine days without a clear decision on the Chief Minister. He compared the situation to the swift actions taken by the BJP in forming governments in other states like West Bengal and Assam.
The uncertainty over the Congress’ choice for Kerala Chief Minister persists, with the party’s high command yet to make a final announcement after prolonged discussions. Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi met with key contenders for the position, including K.C. Venugopal, Ramesh Chennithala, and V.D. Satheesan, along with state president Sunny Joseph.
The Congress-led United Democratic Front secured a significant victory in the Kerala Assembly elections, ending the Left Democratic Front’s decade-long rule. The UDF won 102 seats in the 140-member Assembly, while the LDF was reduced to 35 seats. The BJP secured three Assembly constituencies in the state.
