BJP National Yuva Morcha President and Bengaluru South MP, Tejasvi Surya, accused the Karnataka government of prioritizing expensive infrastructure projects over public transport. He questioned the delay in contributing funds for 4,500 electric buses sanctioned to Bengaluru under the PM e-Drive scheme.
Surya highlighted that while the Central government and Karnataka Cabinet approved the buses, the state government was hesitant to procure them despite needing to provide only a small share of the total cost. He criticized the government for neglecting the needs of BMTC and Metro commuters.
The BJP leader criticized the government’s focus on costly infrastructure projects, citing the inefficacy of short flyovers in addressing traffic congestion. He emphasized the importance of investing in public transport over unbeneficial infrastructure projects.
Surya expressed disappointment in the government’s infrastructure priorities, alleging that ordinary citizens had become “second-class citizens” in the eyes of the administration. He urged the government to prioritize public transport needs over extravagant projects.
