Amid concerns over LPG cylinder shortages due to the West Asia conflict, black marketing of cooking gas is on the rise in Madhya Pradesh. In Bhopal’s Gandhi Nagar area, residents uncovered illegal refilling and black marketing activities, prompting swift action from the district administration.
Officials from the Food and Civil Supply and Revenue Department in Bhopal discovered 18 hidden LPG cylinders in a house in Gandhi Nagar following a tip-off. Chandrabhan Singh Jadon, an official from the Madhya Pradesh government, confirmed the recovery and stated that necessary actions will be taken based on the investigation’s findings.
Reports indicate that black marketers in Bhopal are selling domestic LPG cylinders at inflated prices, ranging from Rs 2,500 to Rs 3,000. To address the situation, the Madhya Pradesh government has instructed district collectors to oversee LPG supply management and curb hoarding and black marketing activities.
Shortages of LPG cylinders have been experienced in Madhya Pradesh for the past three days, despite the state government’s assurance of sufficient stock and an extended refill booking period of 25 days.
