During a recent visit to Washington, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva emphasized the need to respect Cuban sovereignty, as highlighted by Vieira. The President’s remarks underscored the importance of treating Cuba with respect, aiming for regional equilibrium, and advocating for peaceful conflict resolution through negotiation and diplomacy. Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel has criticized the United States for baseless accusations, labeling Cuba as a “sponsor of terrorism” without evidence, in an attempt to justify potential military actions. Diaz-Canel dismissed claims of Cuba posing a threat to the US as unfounded, attributing such assertions to certain officials within the US administration. He highlighted Cuba’s commitment to peaceful coexistence since its Revolution, contrasting it with repeated threats from past US administrations.
