The successful maiden orbital launch of Skyroot Aerospace’s Vikram-1 marks a significant milestone for India’s expanding space industry. ISRO Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan praised the achievement, highlighting the rapid progress of India’s private space sector. Developing an orbital launch vehicle and achieving mission success on the first attempt within just eight years of the company’s inception is truly remarkable.
Narayanan emphasized the substantial growth of India’s space ecosystem under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He expressed pride in the country’s advancements and the increasing involvement of private enterprises in the national space program. The successful launch of Vikram-1 reflects the collaborative efforts driving India’s space exploration endeavors.
Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe) Chairman Pawan Goenka hailed the event as an “India moment,” distinguishing it from achievements elsewhere. He refrained from comparing the milestone to others, emphasizing the significance of India’s progress in the space sector. Goenka commended the Skyroot Aerospace team for their dedication and success in exceeding the mission’s primary objectives.
Skyroot Aerospace, based in Hyderabad, achieved the successful launch of Vikram-1 under Mission Aagaman from the First Launch Pad at the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. The mission surpassed expectations by reaching a 453-km orbit, showcasing India’s capabilities in the private space industry.
