Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva expressed disapproval of US President Donald Trump’s reliance on social media to “rule the world.” Lula made these remarks during a public event in Rio Grande, Brazil, highlighting Trump’s frequent and varied Twitter statements, questioning their impact on respectful human interactions.

Addressing a ceremony for the handover of 1,276 homes in southern Brazil, part of a housing program benefiting around 5,000 individuals, Lula emphasized the importance of reinstating humanism in social connections. He also advocated against excessive cellphone use, promoting a policy initiated in 2024 to prohibit cellphones in elementary and middle schools.

Lula did not publicly respond to Trump’s offer to join the “Board of Peace” overseeing Gaza Strip developments. Encouraging reduced social media engagement, Lula emphasized the significance of nurturing personal relationships over digital interactions. Additionally, he criticized US military actions in Venezuela, cautioning against unilateral force’s negative impact on international law and global stability.
