Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva has pledged assistance to Venezuela after two powerful earthquakes struck the country. Following a conversation with Venezuela’s acting president Delcy Rodriguez, President Lula announced sending a search and rescue team to support the earthquake-affected Venezuelan people. A Brazilian Air Force KC-390 aircraft is set to depart with a team of firefighters, technicians, and specialists, along with equipment for search and rescue operations.
Aid efforts will include a second flight carrying equipment for a field hospital, water purifiers, medicine, and medical supplies. President Lula emphasized the Brazilian government’s commitment to monitoring relief efforts and providing necessary support to Venezuela. Meanwhile, Venezuela’s acting president has initiated measures for rescue and reconstruction, including mobilizing debris-removal equipment, establishing an assistance fund, and offering credit lines to affected businesses.
Venezuela is coordinating international assistance following the devastating earthquakes that caused widespread destruction. Several countries have expressed solidarity and offered aid to Venezuela in the aftermath of the earthquakes. The seismic events, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, resulted in significant damage in La Guaira and the Caracas metropolitan area, claiming lives and injuring hundreds of people.
