Ahead of his appearance before the SIT investigating a phone tapping case, BRS leader T. Harish Rao criticized the notice as a mere ploy by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Rao, who exposed alleged corruption involving the Chief Minister and his family, stated that he received the notice due to this revelation.
Rao, accompanied by BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao and other party members, expressed his lack of fear towards such notices and legal actions, citing his history of facing similar situations during the Telangana movement. He emphasized his intention to comply with the SIT’s directive out of respect for the law.
Maintaining his innocence, Rao highlighted previous court rulings that dismissed phone-tapping allegations against him. He accused the SIT’s notice of being a diversion tactic to shift public focus from the exposed corruption. Additionally, he mentioned receiving the notice shortly after disclosing irregularities in coal block tenders and alleged corruption involving the Chief Minister’s relative.
The SIT issued the notice to Harish Rao under section 160 of Cr.P.C, indicating his familiarity with pertinent details of the case. The investigation focuses on allegations of phone tapping during the BRS administration, involving various individuals such as political rivals, businessmen, journalists, and judges.
