The Budget Session of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly kicked off with Governor Anandiben Patel’s address to the joint sitting of the House. Despite opposition from Samajwadi Party (SP) members, who protested with anti-government slogans and placards, the Governor proceeded with her speech. SP MLA Pallavi Patel chose not to participate in the protest, while SP MLA Atul Pradhan raised concerns about the Ahilyabai Holkar statue.

Amidst the chaos, SP members displayed placards criticizing the government’s policies, highlighting issues such as lack of healthcare facilities and alleged conspiracies. The SP MLAs, as part of a planned protest, continuously chanted “Go back” during the Governor’s address. Governor Anandiben Patel, amidst the disruptions, mentioned the state government’s efforts in uplifting nearly six crore people out of poverty in Uttar Pradesh.

In a separate incident, SP MLA Zahid Beg staged a protest within the Assembly complex regarding specific issues. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that the state’s economic survey would be presented after the Governor’s speech, emphasizing the state’s economic progress. He claimed that Uttar Pradesh had made significant strides in the national economy, moving away from underdevelopment.

Prior to the session’s commencement, Samajwadi Party members staged a protest near the statue of former Prime Minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, denouncing the BJP-led government.
