The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has initiated an investigation into the alleged suicide and dowry harassment case of former actor-model Twisha Sharma in Bhopal. A CBI team visited Twisha Sharma’s matrimonial home to gather evidence and inspect the crime scene where she was found hanging on May 12.
An FIR has been registered against Twisha’s husband, Samarth Singh, and mother-in-law, Giribala Singh, by the CBI after taking over the case from the state police. Twisha Sharma’s death has sparked public interest following allegations of dowry harassment by her in-laws.
Before the CBI took over, the state police’s Special Investigation Team (SIT) had questioned Samarth Singh extensively and recreated the crime scene. Samarth mentioned changes in Twisha’s behavior post-pregnancy and abortion during questioning.
Applications for evidence preservation, including Call Detail Records (CDRs) and CCTV footage, have been filed in the Bhopal district court. The CBI is set to continue interrogating family members and analyzing digital and forensic evidence in the upcoming days.
