In recognition of their exceptional service, numerous Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) personnel have been acknowledged in the nationwide honors announced ahead of Republic Day 2026. A total of 982 individuals from various sectors, including police, fire services, home guard, and civil defense, were awarded gallantry and distinguished service medals. The gallantry medals highlight acts of bravery in high-risk areas, with significant numbers awarded to personnel in regions like Jammu and Kashmir and Left Wing Extremism-affected areas.

The awards commend remarkable acts of courage, whether in daring rescues or crime prevention efforts, aligning the level of risk with the officers’ responsibilities. Notably, 125 individuals are set to receive the Medal for Gallantry, with a majority hailing from police forces and fire services. The Jammu and Kashmir Police leads the way with the highest number of gallantry medals, followed by Maharashtra Police, Uttar Pradesh Police, and Delhi Police.

Additionally, 101 personnel have been honored with the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service, recognizing exceptional records of service. Among the distinguished CBI awardees are individuals like Chandrasekar Venupillai IPS, Amit Srivastava, Mukesh Sharma, and others who have been conferred with prestigious medals for their outstanding contributions. The awards also include the Police Medal for Meritorious Service, acknowledging valuable and resourceful performance across various services.
