The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is set to lead the investigation into the death of model-turned-actress Twisha Sharma in Bhopal. Twisha Sharma was found hanging at her marital home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12. A CBI team has been assigned to take charge of the case from the Madhya Pradesh Police.
The CBI is expected to gather all relevant documents, forensic material, digital evidence, and case diaries related to the investigation. Twisha Sharma’s family has been pressuring for a thorough investigation, questioning the initial findings. This move comes amidst growing public interest and demands for a fair inquiry.
The CBI team will collaborate with senior police officials in Bhopal to review existing evidence, including CCTV footage, forensic reports, call records, and police statements. The agency will delve into the circumstances surrounding Twisha’s alleged suicide and verify the events leading to her death.
Twisha’s husband, Samarth Singh, was arrested by Bhopal police in connection with the case. He has been remanded to police custody for interrogation. A second post-mortem was conducted following objections from the victim’s family regarding the initial autopsy at AIIMS-Bhopal. The last rites of Twisha Sharma were performed in Bhopal in the presence of family and supporters.
Once the CBI re-registers the FIR, it may summon individuals linked to the case for questioning. The agency is expected to thoroughly review the investigation before determining its next steps.
