In the investigation of Twisha Sharma’s death, CCTV installer Vinod Vani disclosed that the CCTV system at ex-judge Giribala Singh’s home was running over two days behind due to a software glitch, not manipulation. Vani, who set up the system in 2023, mentioned being alerted about the incident on May 12, initially assuming it was a routine call related to theft or footage retrieval requests.
He shared that Giribala Singh contacted him the next day, but due to prior commitments, he couldn’t visit immediately. When informed that the police were present at her residence, Vani instructed his staff member, Rohit, to inspect the system. The seriousness of the situation became apparent only after Rohit’s assessment, as Vani had initially presumed it to be a burglary case.
Vani clarified that the time lag in the CCTV system, amounting to over two days, was a result of a software malfunction and not deliberate tampering. He emphasized that timely software updates could have prevented this issue, noting that the system contained a substantial amount of stored data. Following the police’s seizure of the footage and equipment, Vani’s team was tasked with installing a new CCTV setup at the residence for enhanced monitoring capabilities.
Rohit Vishwakarma, another member of Vani’s team, corroborated the events, stating that he was instructed to examine the recording system post the incident at the judge’s house. Vishwakarma, guided by Vani, presented the footage to the authorities, attributing the timing discrepancy to the system’s lack of servicing.
