Chaos unfolded during Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s ‘Samriddhi Yatra’ in Chhapra, Saran district, as a dispute arose between NDA supporters and security personnel at the event venue. The incident, which occurred on January 21, before the Chief Minister’s arrival, led to serious allegations of misbehavior towards a female BJP MLA, sparking political outcry. A large crowd gathered at the venue, but a lack of coordination between security personnel and party workers at the entrance gates heightened tensions.
The situation escalated when an altercation involving Chhapra BJP MLA Chhoti Kumari broke out. Initially a heated argument between security personnel and BJP workers, the situation quickly escalated into a major disturbance. Senior leaders present at the site intervened to eventually bring the situation under control. BJP District General Secretary Vivek Kumar Singh accused security officials, reportedly from Patna, of misbehaving with female party workers and the MLA. Singh alleged that the security officials pushed MLA Chhoti Kumari and used abusive language while trying to enter the venue.
Singh further claimed that women party workers who had come to welcome the Chief Minister were also mistreated during the scuffle. BJP leaders condemned the incident, labeling it as an insult to the dignity of elected representatives and party workers. Vivek Kumar Singh announced plans to submit a formal complaint detailing the incident to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, urging appropriate action against those responsible. There has been no official response from the district administration or security agencies regarding the allegations at present.
