Chennai Super Kings have won the toss and chosen to bowl first against Lucknow Super Giants in match 53 of IPL 2026 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. A victory for CSK, currently sixth in the points table, would enhance their chances of making it to the playoffs. On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants, at the bottom of the table, come into the game after breaking their six-match losing streak with a nine-run win over Royal Challengers Bengaluru.
After winning the toss, CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad mentioned that the pitch had been covered due to rain, making the decision to bowl first on a red soil pitch an easy one. He expressed confidence in the team’s recent performance and emphasized the need to adapt well and restrict the opponents to a low score. Gaikwad highlighted the positive turnaround in the team’s last few games and the importance of maintaining a positive mindset.
LSG captain Rishabh Pant announced that Josh Inglis and Avesh Khan would replace Arshin Kulkarni and Mayank Yadav in the playing eleven. Pant stated that they would have also chosen to bowl first and stressed the importance of consistency and playing good cricket to secure victories. He acknowledged the team’s missed opportunities in previous matches and emphasized the need to give their best effort in every game to turn the tide in their favor.
