Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar was warmly welcomed at the Kharsali helipad in Uttarkashi district. Tight security measures were in place for his visit, with officials and staff present since early morning for meticulous arrangements.
Upon arrival, Kumar was greeted by Uttarakhand Chief Electoral Officer B.V.R.C. Purushottam, among other officials, who briefed him on travel logistics and security. Subsequently, he proceeded to Shri Yamunotri Dham for prayers, with the administration ensuring thorough vigilance and necessary arrangements along his route.
CEC Kumar’s visit involved reviewing polling booths and Special Intensive Revision activities in Uttarakhand’s border district. He interacted with officials, inspected a polling booth, and commended BLO Mintu Devi for her dedicated work. The visit also included a trip to Gangotri Dham, where similar administrative receptions were held.
The visit is seen as a significant step in bolstering democracy in remote and border regions, focusing on assessing polling station facilities, communication systems, security, and challenges in conducting elections in such areas. As part of the Special Intensive Revision drive, Kumar will gather feedback on voter list updates, transparency enhancements, and error-free electoral processes.
