Chief Justice of India Justice Surya Kant and Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah kicked off the two-day International Conference on “Sustainable Energy: An Agenda for India @ 2047 – Reimagining Law, Policy, and Innovation for Energy Justice” in Bengaluru. The event, organized by the Commonwealth Legal Education Association (CLEA) and the Department of Energy, Government of Karnataka, brings together experts to discuss India’s energy future.
The conference, focusing on sustainability, innovation, and energy justice, highlights Karnataka’s progressive energy policies and contributions to India’s long-term energy goals. Chief Justice Surya Kant emphasized the need for fair distribution of benefits in energy development, drawing lessons from Bengaluru’s blend of tradition and transformation. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah noted the pivotal role of energy in India’s development journey towards inclusivity and sustainability.
Energy Minister K.J. George stressed the significance of dialogue between the judiciary and the energy sector for informed decision-making. The conference aims to facilitate discussions on India’s energy transition, policy, and governance aligned with the national vision for energy security by 2047. The event will conclude with a valedictory session outlining key recommendations for the future of sustainable energy.
