Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma conducted a surprise inspection of Outpatient Department (OPD) services at Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital. During the visit, he reviewed medical arrangements, availability of medicines, diagnostic facilities, and cleanliness across various OPD departments. Sharma interacted with patients and their attendants, directing officials to make necessary improvements based on their feedback.
Upon returning to Jaipur from Bhilwara, the Chief Minister unexpectedly visited SMS Hospital. He inspected OPD services at Dhanvantari Bhawan, including departments like Medicine, Orthopaedics, Cardiology, and Neurology. Sharma highlighted SMS Hospital’s status as a premier healthcare institution serving patients not only from Rajasthan but also from other states.
Acknowledging the rising patient load, Sharma stressed the importance of expanding services and utilizing technology for accessible healthcare. He instructed the hospital administration to set up testing and medicine counters within OPD departments to enhance patient convenience. Additionally, Sharma emphasized the need for adequate seating, drinking water availability, and high cleanliness standards throughout the hospital premises.
In a statement to the media, the Chief Minister expressed the state government’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services at SMS Hospital for timely and quality treatment. He praised the Medical Department and hospital administration for improvements made in the past two and a half years. Sharma also highlighted ongoing efforts to implement corrective measures for further enhancements.
Officials present during the inspection included Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary, Medical and Health Department; Deepak Maheshwari, Principal, SMS Medical College; Mrinal Joshi, Superintendent, SMS Hospital; along with senior doctors and hospital staff.
