Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel recently visited the ongoing work on the Sabarmati riverfront project and the new Gujarat Technological University (GTU) campus in Lekawada. The riverfront project, spanning 37.60 kilometers between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, is being developed in three phases. Patel reviewed the progress and timelines of these key development initiatives in the state’s capital region.
The Sabarmati Riverfront Development Project, overseen by the Water Resources Department, aims to enhance the region’s infrastructure and create a vibrant tourism destination. The project is divided into three stretches, with a total length of 17.20 kilometers from Karai to Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU). Officials assured Patel that the project will be completed by the end of 2027, emphasizing adherence to high-quality standards and timelines.
Additionally, Patel inspected the construction site of the new GTU campus in Lekawada, spread over 100 acres of land. Scheduled for completion by October next year, the campus is envisioned as a key academic and administrative center for the university. Senior officials provided detailed updates on the progress of both projects and outlined the expected timelines for their completion.
Accompanied by Minister of State for Water Resources Ishwarsinh Patel, Chief Minister’s Adviser S. S. Rathore, and senior secretaries, Patel received comprehensive briefings on the development works. The review underscores the state government’s commitment to advancing urban development projects in the Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar-GIFT City corridor, with a focus on enhancing connectivity and infrastructure in the region.
