Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed all departments to ensure the planting of 18 crore trees this year in Maharashtra. This initiative will involve meticulous planning, advanced technology utilization, Public-Private Partnership (PPP), village-level plantation planning by Gram Panchayats, and coordinated efforts among various departments. Fadnavis emphasized the importance of every Gram Panchayat identifying available land and preparing a plantation plan through a Gram Sabha resolution for Central funding.
Fadnavis also emphasized the need for real-time monitoring using satellite technology, drones, and GIS systems. He directed the setting of district-wise targets through joint planning by Chief Executive Officers, District Collectors, and Forest Officers. The Chief Minister highlighted the significance of expanding tree plantation under the VB-G Ram Ji Scheme across the state, urging systematic tree planting and public awareness campaigns.
Furthermore, Fadnavis stressed the importance of advance planning to ensure the availability of saplings before the next plantation season. He encouraged partnerships with private organizations, NGOs, and other stakeholders for adequate sapling availability. The Chief Minister also mentioned the utilization of land available with agricultural universities and institutions for plantation, emphasizing collaboration between the government and the private sector for large-scale plantation efforts.
