Chief Minister Mohan Yadav led a State-level Steering Committee meeting in Bhopal, focusing on enhancing the Sanchi brand’s reach in Madhya Pradesh. Emphasizing the role of milk production in boosting farmers’ income, Yadav stressed the need for activities at the village level to improve farmers’ skills and promote milk production.
He highlighted the importance of a robust milk collection system, ensuring profitable procurement prices, transparent processes, and timely payments to dairy producers. The meeting revealed a growing demand for the Sanchi milk brand following NDDB’s involvement, with requests to establish Sanchi dairies in various locations.
Efforts to digitize the dairy value chain included the implementation of software in key milk unions and a mobile app system for real-time data on milk quantity, quality, and pricing. Steps have been taken to guarantee prompt payment to milk producers, with price increases ranging from Rs 2.5 to Rs 8.50 per liter. Additionally, new milk cooperative societies have been established, and inactive ones revived.
Plans are underway to expand dairy cooperative coverage to 26,000 villages, with initiatives to reopen the Shivpuri dairy plant after a two-year closure, as per government statements.
