Chief Minister Mohan Yadav unveiled a series of initiatives in Bhopal to enhance social security for workers in Madhya Pradesh. A digital transaction of Rs 600 crore was conducted to provide assistance to over 27,000 families of labourers under the Mukhyamantri Jan Kalyan Sambal Yojana. This assistance will now also benefit gig workers, marking a significant expansion of the scheme.
The state government’s commitment to supporting the workforce was emphasized through this substantial financial aid. The Sambal scheme’s scope has been broadened to include gig and platform workers for the first time in the state. Chief Minister Yadav highlighted the eligibility of 3,529 gig workers for social security benefits, recognizing their role in the modern economy.
Introducing the Shram Star Rating system, Chief Minister Yadav aims to evaluate industrial establishments based on their compliance with labor laws and dedication to worker welfare. Currently, 554 factories have voluntarily joined this system to enhance their credibility by prioritizing employee well-being. The initiative encourages citizens and labor organizations to support ethical employment practices by choosing products and services from highly-rated establishments.
Labour Minister Prahlad Singh Patel noted the enrollment of over 18 million workers in welfare programs since 2018, with disbursements exceeding Rs 7,720 crore. The state is aligning its regulations with the new Labor Codes introduced by the Central Government to further safeguard worker rights. Districts like Balaghat, Dhar, Sagar, Jabalpur, and Khargone were commended for their effective implementation of these welfare schemes.
