Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is set to conduct surprise inspections at wheat procurement centers across Madhya Pradesh to ensure smooth operations during the ongoing procurement season. The aim is to review ground-level arrangements and confirm that farmers can sell their produce at the Minimum Support Price without any hindrance. Yadav will interact with farmers and officials to assess the system’s functionality and the provision of government-mandated facilities.
The inspections will focus on the availability of basic amenities and adherence to prescribed guidelines. To ease the process for farmers, they have been allowed to sell wheat at any procurement center within their district, reducing congestion and waiting times. The government has also increased the number of weighing scales at each center to six and raised the daily slot booking capacity to enhance operational efficiency.
Basic facilities such as drinking water and shaded seating areas have been arranged at the procurement centers. The government has relaxed Fair Average Quality norms, increasing the permissible limit for lusterless wheat to 50%, with revised limits for shriveled grains and damaged grains. Wheat is being procured at Rs 2,625 per quintal, including a Minimum Support Price of Rs 2,585 and a bonus of Rs 40 per quintal provided by the state government.
