Child abuse cases in Pakistan increased by eight percent in 2025, totaling 3,630 incidents, as per a report by child protection organization Sahil. On average, more than nine children experienced abuse daily in Pakistan last year, indicating a concerning trend. The rise in cases underscores the persistent challenges in safeguarding children in the country.

The report also highlighted a 34 percent surge in Gender-Based Violence (GBV) incidents in Pakistan during the same period. This increase emphasizes the urgent need for effective measures to combat violence against children and vulnerable groups. Sahil’s consistent monitoring and reporting on child abuse cases serve as crucial insights for policymakers and stakeholders striving to protect children’s rights.

In a separate development, a minority rights group shed light on a distressing situation in Pakistan’s Punjab province, where hundreds of children fell victim to sexual abuse. Despite registered cases and identified suspects, justice has remained elusive. Official statistics from 2025 revealed 663 cases of sexual abuse in the Faisalabad district of Punjab, involving nearly 989 suspects, with no convictions to date.

The Voice of Pakistan Minority (VOPM) expressed deep concern over the lack of progress in addressing the crisis. The organization noted that weak investigations, evidence collection, and court backlogs are hindering prosecution efforts. Survivors often receive inadequate protection and support, while negligence accountability remains limited. The VOPM stressed the urgent need for effective responses to ensure justice for victims and prevent further abuse.
