China’s Ambassador to India, Xu Feihong, praised India for hosting the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, highlighting the consensus reached on global and regional issues, BRICS development, and global governance reform. Feihong expressed readiness to collaborate as the incoming Chair and invited colleagues to China next year.
During the BRICS meeting in New Delhi, India issued a Chair’s statement due to differing member views on West Asia and the Middle East. The gathering, led by India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, included foreign ministers and representatives from BRICS nations and partner countries.
The BRICS Foreign Ministers emphasized the importance of multilateral cooperation in addressing global humanitarian crises and condemned violations of international humanitarian law. They stressed the need for accountability and adherence to International Humanitarian Law, acknowledging efforts by BRICS members in this regard.
Differing perspectives on the West Asia/Middle East situation were shared by BRICS members, focusing on dialogue, diplomacy, respect for sovereignty, and economic impacts. The meeting underscored the significance of resolving crises early, upholding international law, and safeguarding civilian lives and infrastructure.
